RACE REPORT
It’s unfortunate that all good things come to an end. The Western Cape Spur Series finally came to an end this weekend.
It was the big one of the four for us, as we were the school to host the last provincial Spur race of the season and our last chance to secure a win against our competitors.
We were pleasantly surprised to have Mr. van Staden wishing us good luck in the starting chute. It was a hard day in the saddle with plenty of single-track and steep climbing. The wind did not make it any easier for us on the tracks. Paul Roos showed no mercy to their contenders and dashed through the course giving it their everything.
Speed, power and dust!
The u14s were off to a “flying” start with Aidan securing a second position for Paul Roos despite literally flying over his handlebars.
Jamie won his race as expected, making it four out of four victories for the 2017 series.
At the end of the day every Paul Roos boy who left a mark on the track helped Paul Roos to beat our competitor, Parel Vallei with more than 100 points!
Thank you to every single person who was involved in making the day and the season a big success, to every single Paul Rooser who came out to support and to the ones who dusted off their bikes to get a few extra points for PRG. Paul Roos won the Western Cape series, but we are not finished yet. We qualified for the nationals at Magaliesburg and 12 of us will compete there the last weekend of the school holiday for the national crown.
The team coach, Mr. Ben Puddu, has put in a lot of effort to get his team in shape and ready to race in the finals. Go for it guys, we hope you bring the trophy home to Stellenbosch this year.
